Croquette House

Croquette House is the grey building standing behind the Shedding House. It was created for the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2009. An old minka house unoccupied for nearly thirteen years was “wrapped” with melted iron powder using thermal spraying. As with the Shedding House, the artifacts of daily life were left as is, and the process of creation began with cleaning and demolition works, in addition to the creation of the path from the Shedding House to the Croquette House.
As the spraying of iron power by thermal spraying is somewhat similar to the process of putting bread crumbles on croquettes, it was named Croquette House. Please stop by when visiting or staying at Shedding House.
